One of the local News programs in Raleigh, NC would have a pet adoption segment every Thursday. They would show some cat or dog and say the pet was housebroken, loved playing with toys and would be a great addition to your family. They made it look cute, yet pitiful enough to pull at your heartstrings a little. On the bottom of the screen they would show you the name and a 1-800 number to call if you were interested in bringing this wonderful animal home with you...
Here, in Maine, on the Portland station..they have something similar....however, they show a kid who needs to be adopted. ... same scenario, just a human.
I don't know why, but it just does not sit well with me.
