Missed Hallmark opportunities

Happy Mother's Day - you probably aren't doing as shitty of a job as you think
Happy Baby Mama Day - I will deduct the cost of this card from your payment (that also, may be a little behind)
Happy Valentine's Day - I can tolerate you most of the time, but you know I am settling
Happy Easter - He rose from the dead because you gave up diet coke for lent - we owe it all to you!
Happy Father's Day (at least until the DNA test comes back)
Happy Birthday - (tho I've never seen your birth certificate for proof of this)

Why do we even celebrate these things? I mean they are nice, warm fuzzies but why can't we have daily reminders that we are loved and thankful for things. Mainly thankful and love ourselves. For without that are we not at least somewhat incapable of truly giving our love to others. I am seriously thinking of a holiday boycott (excluding Thanksgiving). I suppose with two young children, I will not go through with my boycott, so they can enjoy these celebrations. Me, I'm going to work more on the day-to-day and not save up all my special moments for an annual celebration.
